About Jamie & JP

I'm Jamie, I'm 32, married to my best friend JP (38, no male factor).  Summer/Fall of 2010, we went through 3 failed IUIs which came after approximately 4 years of no BC, and no periods.  While my RE never attributed my troubles to my weight, I'm a smart enough girl to know that it, and my PCOS, are the source of my problems.  In February I went for my initial consultation at the Bariatric Center and began changing my habits, and on July 20th of 2011 I had RNY Gastric Bypass surgery.  In total I have lost 145 (and counting, all the time!) pounds, but I still have many more to go.  My cycle finally made an appearance about 6 months post-op.

In March of 2012, I braved my long-feared, and long-denied Adrenal problems, and went to an adult Endocrinologist.  She confirmed my diagnosis via blood tests, and put me on meds.  3 months and several blood tests later, my hormone levels are normal, and I am showing zero signs of PCOS.  I am thrilled, and terrified.

In May/June of 2012, I (apparently foolishly) wanted to see if I would cycle on my own, without birth control, so I stopped taking it.  I never found out, because on cycle day 37 I took a home test, and it was positive.

We first saw our little Gizmo's heartbeat via ultrasound on 7/30/12.  Though we experienced placenta previa, IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction), and an emergency c-section after not handling induction drugs very well, I delivered a healthy and gorgeous baby girl on 2/20/13.  She is the light of my life.

We plan to start trying for a sibling sometime after February of 2014...

Wow, talk about a TMI introduction!  We're all used to that by now, right?

Congrats on your daughter and I hope all goes well with your current pregnancy and your son is born healthy and happy in February. My sister is having this surgery on Nov 28th - so it's nice to see someone who has had it and is doing well. I look forward to following! Here via ICLW.
